She suffered a devastating personal defeat in her sophomore year however she was able to return her place as an All-American. Through her final two years at the school, she helped lead the Trojans up to the top of the mountain, winning consecutive national championships. She had established herself as an all-time great having won an award in the year 2003-04. Honda Sports Award as the highest ranked female volleyball player. Ross graduated with a degree in foreign relations and international affairs at USC. Margie Ross was never able to see her daughter rise to the top in beach volleyball. At the time of 2001, while Ross was a sophomore studying at USC her mother passed away from breast cancer. She is deeply in love with her late parent. Margie continues to be an inspiration at the beach and in all her lives.
