Paula Patton was born in Los Angeles in a middle-class family. Her childhood was filled with big dreams. Her most memorable roles include the spy action film Mission: Impossible: Ghost Protocol, and the dramatic Precious. As a child living in Los Angeles with a middle-class mother, she had lots of dreams. The idea of instilling a love for films in her daughter was something that was a gift from her mother, who also loved watching movies. Paula participated in co-curricular programs at her school and enjoyed drama. She was a member of her class and took part in the school's productions. Hamilton Magnet Arts High School gave her many chances to perform during her high school years and she chose acting to pursue a career. She attended The University of Southern California in the summer program, and enjoyed her stint. The program awarded her a 3-month contract creating documentaries for PBS. After completing the project with success, she began being an assistant in TV documentary production. In the following years, she transitioned to produce documentaries. The work was enjoyable, but she still wanted to pursue a career as an actor. She started her career in acting when she appeared as Will Smith's co-star for the romance comedy Hitch. Since then, she has been in a variety of popular films as well as TV series.
