
Jessica Michelle Chastain, born on the 24th of March, 1977, is an American actress. She is best known for her performances in films with female-centric themes. She has won numerous awards which include an Academy Award, and a Golden Globe Award. Time magazine named her one of the top 100 influential people on the planet in 2012. Chastain began acting in her early years. In 1998 she made her debut on stage in the role of Shakespeare's Juliet. After studying acting at Juilliard School, she was offered a talent contract with John Wells. She appeared as a regular guest star on several TV shows and played part in various stage productions. Chastain's debut film was Jolene (2008) when she was 31 years old. In 2011, Chastain achieved her breakthrough through six film projects, which included The Tree of Life (2011), Take Shelter (2011) and The Tree of Life (2012). Chastain received Academy Award nominations for playing an aspiring socialite in the period drama The Help (2011) and an CIA analyst in the suspense thriller Zero Dark Thirty (2012). Commercial success was greater with the science fiction films Interstellar (2014) and The Martian (2015), as well as the horror film It Chapter Two (2019). The strong-willed character of Chastain in the dramas The Most Valuable Year (2014), Miss Sloane (2016), Molly's Game (2017) and Scenes from a Marriage (2021) were further praised. After her role as Tammy Faye Bakker, she received the Academy Award for Best Actress and Tammy Wynette in The Eyes of Tammy Faye (21) and Tammy Wynette in The Eyes of Tammy Faye (21). Chastain created Freckle Films to promote diversity in film production. She is also an investor in Angel City FC.
